Center for Advanced Manufacturing – Now Open

The much anticipated Center for Advanced Manufacturing at Lake Technical College is now open and the college is accepting applications for the fall semester for Welding Technology, Advanced Welding, and CNC Production Specialist (machining). This 24,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility houses 40 welding stations, a large fabrication area, grinding center, computer lab for blueprint reading and programming, and a machine shop with a CNC mill, CNC lathe, knee mill, and other equipment utilized in the machining industry.

The manufacturing industry is strong in Lake County and our region. As with many technical trades, there is a severe shortage of skilled workers so the timing is perfect for newly prepared, entry level employees to enter the manufacturing workforce. Currently, hundreds of jobs go unfilled as employers struggle to find trained workers. The Center for Advanced Manufacturing was created to help prepare the workforce of tomorrow.
