The Assessment Center is located at the Lake Technical College main campus in Eustis.
Main Campus testing information: Main campus Assessment Center hours are 8 am – 5:00 pm on Monday and 8 am – 2 pm on Wednesday. No appointment is necessary to take the test. Come in anytime during the stated hours, and a staff member in the front lobby will register you and direct you to the Assessment Center.
If you are going to enroll in a technical program that is 450 hours or more, with the exception of Law Enforcement Officer and Correctional Officer applicants, you will take a state mandated Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE) prior to enrollment. If you have a documented A.A.S. degree or above, earned a standard State of Florida high school diploma, 2007 or later, or earned a GED no more than two years prior to the start of class, you are exempt from this requirement.
Law Enforcement Officer and Correctional Officer students are required to take the Basic Abilities Test (BAT) as per Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) requirements. CJBAT Study Guide Information.
The Fire Fighter/Emergency Medical Technician – Combined program applicants must take the National Firefighters Selection Inventory (NFSI). Download the NFSI Study Guide Information here. Prior to taking the NFSI, potential applicants must meet with a career advisor. Practical Nursing and Emergency Medical Technician (stand alone program) applicants must take the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) TEAS Study Guide Information.
Beginning for the fall 2017 semester, all students enrolling into either Medical Assisting or Pharmacy Technician will be required to take the Florida Ready to Work evaluation and score at least a silver level. A certificate showing that the person passed with at least a silver level will be required in order to enroll into either program. Applicants who do not achieve at least a silver level can be referred to TABE testing and then to AAAE for remediation.

Lake Tech is now a certified National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) testing center. Candidates for the ASE test register and pay through the ASE website, www.ase.com/myASE, or by calling Prometric at 1.877.346.9327. Once registered, bring your ASE ID (given at the time you register and pay) with you to test. ASE tests are offered on Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday at various times by appointment only. Lake Tech is a certified North American Technician Excellence (NATE) testing center. NATE certification tests represent real working knowledge of HVACR systems and are designed to allow you to be certified in specific knowledge areas. Testing fees must be paid in the Business Office. The Business Office hours are Monday, 8:00a-6:00p, Tuesday-Thursday, 8:00a-4:00p, and Friday, 8:30a-11:30p. All fees are non-refundable, but good for 30 days. All fees subject to change without notice.
