The Temple Terrace Fire Department is currently recruiting for Firefighter/EMT or Paramedic. Closing date is 04/15/16.

Salary Information: *$47,657-$69,819
*Salary includes $6800 Paramedic incentive. Other salary incentives & holiday compensation available.

Department Overview: Temple Terrace Fire Department was established in 1925, providing full ALS and BLS transport. Two fire stations are located within the City responding to approximately 3,500 calls annually, comprising of 51 career administration
and operations personnel divided among three shifts. Internationally Accredited by CFAI since 2006. ISO 1 Fire Department.

City Information: With a population of 27,000, the Temple Terrace Fire Department serves the residents and visitors of Temple Terrace and provides mutual aid assistance to the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County. The City of Temple Terrace consists of 7 square miles located in north east Hillsborough County. A planned golf course community situated around the original Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club (circa 1925).

Job Requirements

  • Age: 18 years of age.
  • US Citizen: Must be a US Citizen.
  • High School Grad/GED: Must be a high school grad/GED.
  • Valid FLORIDA State Driver’s License: Must have valid state driver’s license.
  • Ability to Read/Speak English: Must be able to read and speak the English Language
  • College: Preferred

Academy Certification: Possess State of Florida Firefighter Certification as set forth by the Firefighter’s Standards Council.

Necessary Certifications: Possess Paramedic and/or EMT Certification. Must obtain Paramedic license within 2 years of employment.

Certifications: Must be tobacco-free for one year preceding appointment and throughout Fire Department employment (affidavit required).

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

  • Working knowledge of firefighting and rescue methods and techniques;
  • first aid, CPR and ACLS techniques, emergency medical techniques, practices, supplies and equipment;
  • firefighting terminology;
  • fire characteristics;
  • standard firefighting and rescue tools and equipment and their uses;
  • search and rescue techniques and equipment;
  • the City’s street system and physical layout. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, orally and in writing, and by use of hand signals. Ability to function efficiently under stressful conditions;
  • lift, carry, and maneuver bulky and moderately heavy equipment;
  • perform work requiring considerable physical exertion under hazardous conditions;
  • and operate a variety of firefighting and rescue equipment.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and interact effectively with all types of people in a variety of situations.

YOU MUST COMPLETE CPAT & FIRETEAM: Prior to submitting an application for employment as a Firefighter, you must successfully complete both the Candidate Physical Abilities Test (CPAT) and the FireTEAM assessments. The National Testing Network (NTN) offers both CPAT and FireTEAM.
