Sarasota County Fire Department is currently building an eligibility list for Firemedic (Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic). Applicants must have valid FireTEAM and NTN CPAT. All testing through National Testing Network must be completed by January 25, 2016 to be considered for the current round of hiring.

Salary: $39,312 – 47,424 starting depending on qualifications

Department Information: Sarasota County Fire Department protects 412 square miles with a population of approximately 350,000. Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Operations operates 21 fire rescue stations and seven EMS only stations. Sarasota County Fire Department employs over 500 Firefighter/EMT’s of which 236 are Firefighter/Paramedics, and are supported by 60 volunteer firefighters. Our department responds to over 44,652 emergencies annually, of which, approximately 5,653 are fire related incidents.

Fire Operations operates:
• 16 Basic Life Support (BLS) engines
• 25 Advanced Life Support (ALS) ambulances
• Six ALS engines
• Three ladder trucks
• One special operations vehicle
• Three tankers
• One fire boat
• Other emergency support vehicles

High School Grad/GED: Yes or GED equivalent
Valid FLORIDA State Driver’s License: Valid Florida State Driver’s License
Ability to Read/Speak English: Yes
Vision: As required in NFPA 1582

Academy Certification:
Certified State of Florida Firefighter
Certified State of Florida EMT
