The City of Deltona is currently hiring for Firefighter/EMT (Paramedic preferred). This position requires FireTEAM testing and a valid NTN CPAT. All testing must be completed by January 30, 2016.

The department requires the candidate PHQ. You can access the questionnaire through your candidate account. The PHQ must be completed by January 30, 2016 or you may not be considered further in the process.

Salary Information: FF/EMT $11.76/hr, FF/Paramedic $14.01/hr (After clearing as a Lead Paramedic with Agency and County Medical Director)

Vision: Good near and distant vision (with or without correction)
Academy Certification: Florida certification as a Firefighter/EMT; Paramedic preferred; Current CPR certification; Current ACLS certification (Paramedic); EVOC/CEVO/16 Hour Emergency Driving certification; Current FL Driver’s License (or current out of State Driver’s License), Copies of certifications must be submitted with employment application.

DEFINITION: Under general supervision the purpose of this position is to protect life and property from fire or fire related danger. Employees in this classification perform skilled, protective work. Position is responsible for extinguishing fires, rescuing persons and property from danger, performing salvage and related follow-up work, and providing emergency medical services. Performs related work as directed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the essential functions of this job some tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of sitting, standing and/or walking. Emergency tasks and training involve the performance of physically demanding work, which may involve some combination of running, climbing or jumping, and may involve the lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy and/or heavy objects, materials and/or persons (20-150 pounds). Must be able to wear protective clothing and equipment up to 60 pounds and work in extremely high temperatures and toxic atmospheres. In responding to critical incidents, the incumbent may be exposed to fire, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic substances, excessive noise, temperature extremes, and dampness/humidity. The incumbent may be exposed to possible bodily injury from falling from high, exposed places; moving mechanical parts of equipment, tools, and machinery.
