The Alachua County Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) Human Resources Office offers full testing services for the position of Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic through National Testing Network, Inc.

A passing test score must be submitted to Alachua County Human Resources Office by National Testing Network (NTN) for your application to be considered for the position.  An application for the position must be submitted to Alachua County Human Resources Offices before the position closing date.

What to expect at the www.nationaltestingnetwork.com website:
•   Completion of the NTN application process;
•   Review all information related to the Alachua County Firefighter/EMT and/or Firefighter Paramedic position, including minimum requirements, salary and benefits;
•   Detailed information about the testing process for both the entry level test and CPAT testing;
•  Opportunity to take online practice tests at www.fireteamtest.com.
•   Schedule your own convenient test time.Tests are offered multiple times a week, including Saturdays; and
•   Take high quality job simulation tests in a standardized, fair testing environment.

Upon completion of the entry level exam and CPAT testing, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the Alachua County BoCC Human Resources Office.  Candidates who attain a passing score on the physical abilities test will be placed on the Alachua County BoCC Fire Rescue department’s referral list. The Alachua County BoCC Fire Rescue Department will contact candidates on the list and will invite them to continue to participate in other stages of the departmental selection process.

National Testing Network is a service provided to conduct entry level testing and CPAT testing in a standardized, professional environment. National Testing Network does not replace the Alachua County BoCC Fire Rescue Department’s responsibility and decision making in the testing process. All candidate testing results are provided to Alachua County Board of County Commissioners Human Resources Office where the applicant’s minimum qualifications, and certifications, are reviewed and submitted to the Fire Rescue Department.

FIREFIGHTER/EMT 56
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE FIREFIGHTER/EMT 56:
Graduation from high school or equivalent. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and criminal history background check are required prior to employment.

1.Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance.

2.Current State of Florida Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certificate.

3.A valid State of Florida Drivers license free from moving violation citations for a period of not less than six months preceding employment; and within the past three years applicant must have had no convictions for reckless driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and must not have had a driver’s license suspended pursuant to Florida law.

4. Sworn affidavit attesting to the non-use of tobacco products.

6.  CPAT Passing score submitted to Alachua County Human Resources Office through National Testing Network.com (NTN)

FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC 56
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE FIREFIGHTER/PARAMEDIC 56:

Graduation from high school or equivalent. Successful completion of a pre-employment physical examination and criminal history background check are required prior to employment. Upon submission of application, proof of the following must be provided:

1. Current State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance.

2. Current State of Florida Paramedic certificate with expiration date shown and attending privileges as approved by the County’s Medical Director.

3. Current designation as an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider.

4.  A valid State of Florida Drivers license free from moving violation citations for a period of not less than six months preceding employment; and within the past three years applicant must have had no convictions for reckless driving or driving under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances and must not have had a driver’s license suspended pursuant to Florida law.

5. A sworn affidavit attesting to the non-use of tobacco products.

Upon appointment to position, the following must be completed and maintained as a condition of employment:

1. Successful completion of a course in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support / International Trauma Life Support must be obtained within the first twelve months upon appointment to position.

2. Certification by the Alachua County Medical Director within the first month of employment and maintain this certification as a condition of employment.
