JOB DESCRIPTION:This Career Service position is located in the Department of Children and Families’ Central Region and would be assigned to one our Processing Centers in Orlando, Ocala, Lakeland, Rockledge and Kissimmee. Processing Center staff will be responsible for processing applications (conducting interviews, answering phones and processing verification) from clients who have either applied or are receiving public assistance benefits including food stamps, Medicaid, and/or temporary cash assistance. The majority of the workday is spent gathering data from the client by phone, their online application and various databases. This is a very challenging job in a fast paced work environment and requires the ability to multi-task and adapt.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Apply the policies, procedures and programs governing the agency.
  • Apply the laws, rules and regulations governing eligibility and grant determination for multiple public assistance programs and the case administration of these programs.
  • Communicate verbally with others to obtain and verify information concerning eligibility.
  • Detect and evaluate potential fraudulent situations.
  • Analyze and interpret written, numerical and verbal data from various sources.
  • Enter data accurately into a computerized system.
  • Navigate through computer screens and complete and review basic computer documents and other forms.
  • Read, understand, apply complicated and detailed regulations and policy directives.
  • Perform a variety of mathematical computations accurately and rapidly.
  • Prepare, clear, concise and accurate records and reports.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with the public and staff.
  • Using computer-based technologies to locate, access, evaluate, store and retrieve information and to express ideas and communicate with others
  • Follow written and oral directions and instructions.
  • Ability to type 25 words per minute
