Lake Tech’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing Now Open

Lake Technical College is excited to announce the new Center for Advanced Manufacturing (CAM) building is up and running. This spring term, Lake Tech welcomed the first students into the new Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Production Specialist program. Also, both the day and evening Welding classes moved into the new facility. Executive Director Dr. Culpepper said, “The CAM is a game changer for the economic growth and development of Lake County and our region. We are thrilled that the center is open and the skilled workforce will be well-prepared for the future.”

The 24,000 square foot state-of-the-art Center for Advanced Manufacturing is located on the main campus in Eustis and is a combination of revitalized existing buildings and new construction. Previously, the welding students had access to 18 welding booths, they now have 40 available for high-tech training. The CNC students will hone their skills on Haas CNC mill and lathe machines. Both classes also utilize virtual simulators. The CAM will become an American Welding Society (AWS) accredited testing center later this year. This will allow Lake Technical College to test and qualify welders from across the state.

Stay tuned for the grand opening ceremony which will take place later this year.
